Which regions are served by AgeWell Physiotherapy?

We are west-island based and serve the island of Montreal and surrounding regions including L'Île - Perrot, Pincourt and Vaudreuil-Dorion. If you are located outside these areas please contact us to determine if a transportation fee may be required.

What should I know before my first appointment?

A physiotherapy assessment will begin with a review of your medical history, present symptoms and a physical evaluation will proceed. Please wear comfortable clothes and expect the assessment to take up to 75 minutes.

Please make sure you have prepared the following important documents:

  • Your medicare card

  • A doctor’s prescription if you have one

  • A list of your medications

  • Operative reports, MRI or X-ray results (if applicable)

You can also download our intake form (see link below) and fill it out prior to your appointment.

Do I need a referral?

With direct access to physiotherapy in Quebec, a doctor's referral is not necessary to receive evaluations and treatments. However, we may suggest that you consult a doctor for their opinion or to get further tests done. Note that some extended health benefit plan insurance companies still require a doctor's referral for reimbursement of physiotherapy treatments.

Is physiotherapy covered by private health insurance?

The majority of private insurance plans cover a portion of physiotherapy costs. Ask your insurer for details about repayment terms. Physiotherapy fees can be added as deductible medical expenses on your tax return. Invoices will be provided immediately following sessions and assessments.

What training is required to become a physiotherapist?

In order to become a physiotherapist a Master's degree of Physical therapy has been required since 2012.  To practice, physiotherapists must be members of the Ordre professionnel de la physiothérapie du Québec (OPPQ) and comply with regulations including additional continuing education in order to maintain certification.

Where do you offer personal training?

I work out of the Dorval Aquatic and Sports Complex located on Dawson Avenue. This new complex serves the residents of Dorval and surrounding regions.

What should I know before my first appointment?

Please expect an assessment to take between 60-90 minutes. The process will begin with a review of your medical history, current health profile and a physical evaluation of your flexibility, strength and endurance will proceed. Please make sure you have prepared important documents and your list of medications.

What training is required to become a personal trainer?

There are many different processes for becoming a personal trainer. In order to receive my accreditation I completed a practical and theoretical exam with Canfit Pro to become a personal training specialist. I also graduated with a B.Sc. for Concordia University in exercise science in 2012. This gave me the foundation of fitness assessment and exercise prescription I still use today.
