Do I need a referral for physiotherapy?

With direct access to physiotherapy in Quebec, a doctor's referral is not necessary to receive evaluations and treatments. However, we may suggest that you consult a doctor for their opinion or to get further tests done. Note that some extended health benefit plan insurance companies still require a doctor's referral for reimbursement of physiotherapy treatments.

Is physiotherapy covered by private health insurance?

The majority of private insurance plans cover a portion of physiotherapy costs. Ask your insurer for details about repayment terms. Physiotherapy fees can be added as deductible medical expenses on your tax return. Invoices will be provided immediately following sessions and assessments.
